OK he describes me . Is there anyway to help myself ?
21 July 2018, 17:21
Hold on Millennials are going to be A-Ok they just need to become more conservative. Reuters/Ipsos poll of 16,000 millennials found that support for Democrats among this generation dropped to 46% — a nine-point plunge from two years ago. Just 39% of white millennials now say they favor Democrats. It also found that more millennials say the GOP is a better steward of the economy. Given the millennial generation is 71 million strong this is very positive news.

There are at least two MAJOR problems with this video:A) It's the worst display of ageism to ever gain popularity in recent years. Sinek is generalizing and stereotyping TWO BILLION people on the sole basis that they were all born in a particular time period. No intelligent person would pay a moment's attention to someone who claimed to make broad, sweeping statements about the behavior of BILLIONS of people based solely on their color...or gender....or their place of birth. But when Simon Sinek generalizes Millennials, everyone thinks he's doing something profound.B) Sinek argues that Millennials have an addiction to mobile phones and technology because of a dopamine addiction. That's not how dopamine works. No one should take my word for it because (like Sinek), I'm not a neuroscientist. But you can certainly do your own research from actual neuroscientists who study brain chemistry and you'll find the same thing I did: that's not how dopamine works. Our society loves bite-sized, TED-talk, sound-bite self-help explanations. But the reality is that the answers for why humans do what they do is often too complex to be summed up in correctly in less than 18 minutes. Sometimes, a good understanding requires reaching past these Cliff's Notes and SparkNotes' explanations (which are just plain wrong) and to actually learn something from qualified people who can tell you why the "easy explanations" are often mistaken.Just my opinion.

84 and after? Fuck no 90 maybe
21 July 2018, 02:00
This is indeed excellent, however, it's hypocritical that he coddles the people he criticizes to sell books(even the title uses CAPS to advertise an end product). I (and I'm surely not the only "millennial") inherently know everything he says, but he is an astronomically better speaker than myself. There's also no requirement to take a picture of a meal using a phone, and the restaurant can call an Uber or taxi. Like he said, he'll buy an $8 alarm clock, yet a nice camera doesn't cost much more these days to take some memorable pictures with friends and leave the phones at home. The list could go on.

Simon Sinek is a cutie, anyone have his number? Lol 😉
21 July 2018, 00:01
Excuse me. I left school hot shit, I entered the work place hot shit, and I will work my way to wealth because I'm hot shit. You talk about millennials like we're weak or entitled and are ok with coming in last. You're. Fucking. Wrong. Every generation has its losers, and we have just as many as the generations before us. But we as millennials also have some fucking ballers. We're forced to grind and to work harder than the generations before us because we got fucking competition, and every hour we sleep is an hour we fall behind. So don't talk down on millennials like we're soft and don't know how to work

thats pretty much what you could find even in ancient literature too. that is, if you want to actually inform yourself scientifically - or rather organised - instead of listening to some dude holding a little monologue. but of course that wouldnt be trendy...about the things being dangerous when not in moderation: that you can find reading aristoteles. Im 21 and i realized all this years ago. I dont know why. I guess i had a good father and im knda smart. But i knew all this stuff. Im here to say that no one will listen to you. Ive tried for so long to tell my peers, no one will listen. Im not saying to quit, cause i will never quit, but im just saying that they dont listen. What this gentleman said should be common sense, but it is not because our generation is very confused.
20 July 2018, 13:03
Amazing that he's this clueless about a generation who's parents might of been flipping burgers and working the drive after the housing crash just like they might of decade ago. Millennials are the red, white, blue, and screwed generation who've inherited a nation seemingly so intolerant that catching some one losing it has become a social media sport. Their not snowflakes or antisocial just feed up with a culture war they have no say in or started even though their asked to take sides. If anything there more jaded than other generations because of it and it's been true in times of massive technological change since the wheel was invented.

Born in 88, always been a grafter, moved out when I was 18 and never had a helping hand financially.
20 July 2018, 00:13
This is just wrong. He took a lot of truth about millennials and twisted it to make an invalid point about business. If you want to help millennials, start with higher paying jobs. We would be far less disillusioned if the quality of life hadn't continued to decrease while our country and corporations get richer and richer, all the while we incur debt which our generation is going to pay the price for (social debt, environmental debt, and economic debt, & so on). What if the previous generations just man up and fix the problem, rather than always trying to come up with some acceptable scapegoat for their guilt. We're not flawed, we're pissed. Some of us, that is. God the generalizations. It's like when that guy in your family keeps saying how he had a ton of black friends in high school, as if that justifies him getting to blanket statement all of our poverty problems, by referring to them as "black community" problems. We've heard it all before. You still sound incredibly ignorant.
20 July 2018, 00:02
I definitely agree the phones and constant advertisement, media overload, etc are problems in todays society. Simply put, it's distracting. As for this idea of entitlement, haven't met many parents in my life that baby-sit their kids the way this man and many other non-millennials have described. Maybe we just don't like the way things are, and are frustrated with our inability to change a world run by a generation we think needs to hurry up and die. Not very many racist millennials, millennials are often very green, millennials are usually skilled with technology. We have a lot to contribute. My point is that frustration may resemble entitlement, when really it's mostly angst about being told what we can and can't do. One day it will be our vote that counts the most. Just keep that in mind.
19 July 2018, 21:51
I love how at 07:51 he is talking about how if you're in a meeting and supposed to listen to what's being talked about instead of addictively checking your phone, etc., there is this person in the audience just casually on their Mac. Pure gold.

18 July 2018, 08:21
You know, honesty, I really don't like people giving advice to others that they themselves either don't have the willingness or the capability to do themselves. If You are doing something or have done something- then fine give advice out of that thing. But if you're not then hear this- why would you expect someone else to do something that you yourself would not or could not do? Quite frankly I find it fascinating and disheartning that the boomer and older generations are shitting (verbally) on the younger generations when guess what? - YOU RAISED THEM. Children reflect their parents because they learn their behaviors from them. So if you don't like the way the younger generations turned out then understand and recognize that you had a firm hand in turning them into that. Now does this excuse selfish or bad behavior by younger generations? No. They have choices and responsibiities too. But what I'm saying is that it takes BOTH a Parent who wants success AND a child who wants success working TOGETHER in order for that child to actually BE a success. It takes both. And both have a hand and a part to play in it. You can't just ignore one or the other. To do so is pride and blame shifting.
18 July 2018, 07:58
Man I don't know what it's going to take to get us to see that we're all in this together. And what you do or don't do affects every other person around you. In other words we need to get over ourselves and come together to support and help one another. Start caring about others around you more than you care about yourself. Instead of just criticizing judging and condemning one another. The old pointing fingers at the young and the young pointing fingers at the old isn't going to solve or change anything. Ever. The blame game is a distraction people. Stop it.
18 July 2018, 05:08
Listening to young people who think they know the answers is common and very scary. All generations go through this but this is the first time kids blatantly tell adults they the kids are right. No respect. No listening skills. Cell phones will take time to be able to be moderated to be used in a healthy way. Like food. Drugs...altered states. We parents need to be able to teach moderation and critical thinking. And we parents of the millennials are unable to do this, unable to know how to parent. Learn to teach dogs, THAT skill, is the best parenting skill set. Teaching aliens that don't have the same language. We parents of the Millennials are the lamest parents in the history of mankind. The environment and technology is constantly changing to fast for humans to catch up without intense focus to become a great trainer of children. Seriously, dog training works best in this day and age.
18 July 2018, 04:59
So cute...we non Millennials are JEALOUS oh just a little bit! Parenting skills are lost. Completely. The parenting skills that worked back in the 50's will NEVER work today, sadly. We non Millennials will bad mouth the poor gorgeous youth that has taken our place no matter what. Does anyone imagine old people being proud of young people? Past this little jealousy, the environment, the stresses, the technology today is what Millennials know and learn to cope with. We non millennials are incapable of helping our children, young people deal with stuff we ourselves have not had to learn coping skills. Guilt on the part of parents is what has made The Entitled Generation. They know they aren't doing what parents HAVE to do as parents. They want to go make money and notoriety and come home to balanced, happy children? Not happening. This is a new, alien world that sadly our children are forming their own coping skills because parents just do not get it. As we become a real culture, I am talking about this young dumb country, our culture will demand certain rules to be followed. We don't need a stupid rule for every stupid thing. Culture takes care of that. Kids are being herded into a money making mentality. Period. High high stress. Love, enjoyment of the moment, children, relationships are not quantifiable critical skills in our society. Very sad.

"Everything you want you can have instantaneously, except job satisfaction and strength of relationships - there ain't no app for that!"
18 July 2018, 04:34
"What do you want?" - Parents ask this way too often - who is the boss? who is the adult in charge? who is the parent?

I'm a "Millennial" (according to his definition), a s/w developer in one of the big companies in the world, but I'm from a totally different culture and so thank god for escaping me this phase in my life! I don't use smart phone. If I want to connect I have to do it with my laptop and it's not an instant one.. I don't see whatever videos that are suggested by social media (FB/Instagram etc), I search for what I want to watch and watch that particular thing. I don't carry around my phone everywhere unless I'm out of home and want to be contacted over a call.. I call and talk to my friends and no whatsapping.. I call and talk to my parents everyday and we cousins and uncles and aunts are phoned regularly atleast once a week. We meet up over family functions regularly.. I smile at people in the lift (when they are not looking at their phones). I know all my office boys/girls and watch guards and most of them know me in person. I'm such a happy person in office bcz I know i have so many people to talk to when I want anyone. There have been cases where I bitched about my manager to lady who cleans the rest room. I speak to her about her family life. She checks me about my son's health... World is such a wonderful place.. I don't get how people ignore a lively real place this for a virtual world which doesn't come for their help when they need it...
